Nigeria’s growing energy demand, combined with its heavy dependence on fossil fuels, has created an urgent need for clean and renewable alternatives that can power communities sustainably while reducing environmental and public health risks. In Nasarawa State, young people remain one of the most underutilized resources in advancing climate action—despite their creativity, adaptability, and strong desire for transformative change.
Mission4Impact developed this initiative to mobilize, train, and empower youth leaders across three LGAs—Keffi, Kokona, and Lafia—to champion the clean energy transition from the grassroots upward. The project also aims to strengthen collaboration between communities, local governments, and state institutions to ensure renewable energy and climate action are integrated into governance systems and policy frameworks.
Project Goal
The project seeks to build youth leadership in renewable energy advocacy while driving policy commitments that prioritize climate action and clean energy financing in Nasarawa State. It equips 200 young people with essential knowledge and practical skills in climate change, renewable energy technologies, and community mobilization. Additionally, it supports the formation of coalitions among youth groups, community organizations, and local government authorities.
Through advocacy campaigns, stakeholder dialogues, and public awareness activities, the project aims to secure concrete policy commitments in Keffi, Kokona, and Lafia LGAs and to enhance community acceptance and adoption of renewable energy solutions.
